After the first wireframed globe was released in Blendswap.com here, I got a lot of feedbacks from community, many of which are nice suggestions. So I took some time to rebuild the project, Now let's see what's new in Globe Project Pack 2.1:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmbRggmBEGA
Improvements:
Redraw from scratch based on equirectangular projection. Now it is much more accurate. (the former one was made from a free SVG map, which was not quite suitable)
More islands. And finally comes Antarctica!
9 basic globe styles, more can be generated by tweaking modifiers.
Cycles shaders included, Ready to use.
Plane-to-globe mesh template included, allowing customized maps of your own.
Caspian Sea was missing in v2.0, now fixed in v2.1 (Thx FalgorOne).
Details:
s1 - Political (with boundaries), Wireframes off.
s2 - Physical (no boundaries).
s3 - Pixelized, Wireframe on.
s4 - Dot Matrix emission, single face, customizable unit.
s5 - Dot Matrix emission, double faces, customizable unit.
s6 - Diamond Matrix emission, plain globe, customizable unit.
s7 - Volume emission, single mesh.
s8 - Optional Wireframe on oceans/continents, single mesh.
s9 - Continents extruded, single mesh.
Scene layer 2 to 7: Equirectangular projection maps of different styles.
Scene layer 8: Customizable template base.
The globes are really amazing. I've been trying to learn how to do a dot matrix effect for a robotic face. Maybe this will help me learn that technique.
To describe it in one word WOW you are awesome!!! i was looking for something like this for years
also thank you for making it public domain
Thanks so much! I used it in a TV news intro:

Cookm FalgorOne, it looks impressive! Also, about the Caspian Sea missing issue, I just fixed it and updated to v2.1. Thanks!
I love so much your globes! So good ideas here! (If you remember I've used the other blue one for one of my Camera tracking here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaZn-biVxHo).
Thank you for developing this project. I was one of the commenters on the original model. This would have taken you many hours to do. It is truly superior.
Hi, great job. But some how you missed South Sudan, (country since 2011) and there is no boarder between Sudan and the Kongo. And there is no boarder between Yeman and Oman.
Noxd
