For your blending pleasure... 600K polygons of nitro-boosted war machine :)
The movie is still in theatres as I write this, so my reference material was limited to blueprints of the "donor" vehicles, publicity photos, and whatever I remembered from the film.
The majority of this model is original work, but I do need to credit a few people:
1.) The skulls are versions of on an excellent blend by Cole Harris.
2.) Many of the materials use a free texture by Beckas on Deviant Art. Thanks!
As with all Blender projects, there's plenty of room for improvement. Hand-painted textures would be awesome, and the unwrapping job is...uh... less than stellar :) Feel free to improve it!
For those who are interested, more pics are available on my FB page.

Please note that this model may NOT be used commercially. "Mad Max: Fury Road" and all related marks, logos, and designs are owned by Warner Bros Pictures. This model is not endorsed, sponsored, or affiliated with Warner Bros Pictures or the Mad Max franchise.
I really enjoyed the movie too... and I just happened to see it at a point where I had a little free time on my hands :) I doubt I'll be making any more in the near future, but feel free to use any parts or pieces from this one (superchargers, wheels, frames, whatever) and make your own :)
This might be a difficult request but do youj think you can make the Earsplitter/Doof Wagon? the one with the drummers in back and a stage with hundreds of speakers and a masked guy on a bungee cord playing a double-necked, flame-throwing guitar?
I know the vehicle you're talking about... it's pretty cool :) But these kind of projects take a lot of time and work, so I wouldn't count on it in the near future...
This is amazing workmanship! Thank you for being willing to post you work for us to learn from. I bet this is going on "Staff Picks" vary soon.
Cheers, Rex
Stunning work as always Chris. Thanks for sharing it, oh also added to Staff Picks.
this is absolutely incredible. any plans to do other vehicles from the movie?
Thanks! No immediate plans to do other vehicles, but I'm not ruling it out. I like the Gigahorse quite a bit, as well as Max's car at the beggining. And of course the Peacemaker (tank-car). That was pretty sweet :)
if you do decide to do the "peacemaker" I can send you some refs from the actual cars build. I might have other refs for the other vehicles from the people who built them so message me if you are interested.
Thanks! Yeah the unwrapping was just a quick "Smart UV Project" and then scaling UV maps until the textures more or less matched other parts of the truck... not master craftsmanship :) If you want to remap the UVs and do some "real" texturing, I'd love to see it!
Great work, i was looking for a model of this car and other Mad Max cars, would love to put this on a GTA 5 Mad Max Mod soon :)
"Rectified Grammatical Stupidity" Story of my writing life.
Great model Chris! I still find it amazing how you work so fast.
It's not that I work so fast, it's that I spend too much time with Blender :)
Blender is better then 3d studio max ?, what do you recommend for a beginner in modeling ? thanks in advance.
My personal opinion? There are areas in which 3DS Max is better than Blender, but not to any degree which would justify its cost.
Having said that, a lot of studios, FX houses, etc, use 3DS Max. For instance, the makers of "Fury Road" created some pre-production models of their vehicles before starting construction. They used 3DS Max to do it. It's also notable that .Max files are the top selling format on most stock 3D sites.
For personal projects, however, I use nothing but Blender. Once I memorized the keystokes, I started realizing how efficient it actually is.
And, you know, it's free :)

This is has to be the most amazing thing on Blendswap, how do you even do something like this?
Thanks!
I wouldn't call it the most amazing thing on BlendSwap - there's a lot of awesome stuff here :)
How do you make it? Well... there's really nothing special about it. It is a huge model and took forever, but all the techniques are out there in various tutorials. I recommend YouTube or, if you can afford it, CGCookie.com.
Holy mother of Post Apocalyptic vehicles !!
I would love to use that in my game ;D
I know I shouldn't. But I'll do it anyway....
This blend is awesome and I love it. But at the same time as the paintwork looks like it's been through rought times, the actual vehicle is smooth as a baby's buttocks.
I think that dents and broken bits would have made it uber-awesome.
You're right, of course... but that was a deliberate choice. If you give someone a clean mesh, they can usually "damage" it with no trouble. But if you give them a damaged mesh, it's a LOT harder to make it clean. I didn't know what people would want to do with this (such as steal parts for other projects), so I thought a clean version was the best way to go. I'd love to see a damaged one, though :)
Dear god this is amazing, mind if I made it work in BeamNG? I've been trying to find a war rig to drive in it and I can't find any.
Great model, now rendering a shoot from it. Thank you for sharing.
Looks great! It should maybe have that fanart symbol setting to go along with the disclaimer. I might be using parts of this as long as it won't resemble the Mad Max stuff :)
Thanks a lot.I know that you work hard in this great model and I'm grad to see that you have a wonderful heart sharing it.
wow this is amazing..very cool blend thanks for sharing
