Photorealistic Earth in Cycles

A Blend and a set of textures in 8k and 2k resolutions to make a photorealistic earth in cycles. The textures include a diffuse map, specularity map, bump map, and a cloud texture that is used as a diffuse, alpha, and bump map. These textures are all released with a CC BY license. A video tutorial on how the blend with texture and composite node setups and the resultant render was made is available here:

    I am trying to follow your tutorial using version 2.69. I am at about the 6 minute mark when you apply the first earth texture. You turn on texture mode in the 3D view and you notice that the texture is orated 90 degrees. When I switch to texture mode my sphere does not show the texture. Any hints?

    this is a great tutorial especially focus it on how to use materials,textures and node editor in blender,(best part of the tutorial in my view),a bit tricky by the way to follow along,but helpfull to get used to with such a space scenario,however thanks and keep the good blending.

    HELP!!! i followed the tutorial along very well, but when i switched over to texture mode in my 3D view, most of the earth just appeared dark and i could only see part of the North pole and europe. I have matched the UV map with the 2K earth image
