Here is the high-poly version of my basket stool out of my living room. Every time I saw the pattern of the basket I was wondering myself how to do that in Blender. I modeled and textured this basket stool 02.05.2015.
A complexs modifier-setup with paths, arrays and lattice modifiers was my solution to realize this mesh basket pattern in Blender.
My reference-picture, which I photographed and composed in photoshop for modeling the high-poly version of this basket stool.
Later I created this texture from my reference-picture.
Sorry i'm not really good in making tutorials but i is not so difficult to understand this technik, simple analyzed the blend file :)
That's awesome. I've thought about trying wicker before but never like this...wow...
That's a great work. But to be photorealistic, I think a little bit of texture painting to make varying the texture will make it look like reference image.

Thank you, yes you are right, the render looks too sterile and clean also the lighting could be better.
