Here's a mech model that was created in one day, it has alot of large texture images, well, actually they are dirtmap images, as the camo was done procedurally.
I wasn't originally going to post this, but someone wanted it, so here it is! Enjoy!
However, do be warned, as it was created in one day, it may be considered a nice example of sloppy use of polys, textures, and umm, yeah.
It's not rigged, or anything like that, it is unwrapped, but with smart unwrap, so expect sloppiness.
I have to say, your entry into the contest at blendercookie was an early favorite of mine. When I get my entry for the contest done I am sorely tempted to do a render of your mech and mine drawing down on each other. Just gotta get the rig done on mine so it's possible.
Cheers, and Best of Luck! May the best blenderhead win!
We are looking for a armour/vehicle modeler for a game project we are working on. If you are intrested we would be extremely honored for you to join our team.

Please Consider
I've already got enough projects right now but thank you for the offer.
I just wanted to say this model is fantastic. What gpu did you use to render it and how much gpu ram did it use?
Thanks, Adam
I used Blender Internal, so all CPU, thanks for your comment!
Wow, that's really excellent for Blender internal. I downloaded this on Friday night and gave it a render on my old Pentium 4 530, and it took 13 minutes! Time for a upgrade, LOL! By the way, thanks so much for including the lighting and node setups... that's extremely useful information. Also the lighting is very cinematic.
Nice work! Do you know anywhere I can find a tutorial for dirtmapping?
Go to vertex paint mode and click "Paint" then "Dirty Vertex Colors". To bake the dirtmap to textures, add a new shadeless material and check the box that says "Vertex Color Paint" under "Options".
Now UV unwrap the model, create a new texture, select the object, go to render settings, under "Bake" click the bake button, you should have a dirt map after a bit.
must say, that could make a great turret on a battleship or something.
thanke yo about the greate mech i am govin to add in to my movie
