This is that chair that sits at my desk where I work with blender. I created it as a modeling exercise and have now decided to make it my first upload to blendswap.
Modeling:
The chair is fairly detailed though there are a few areas that could use a bit more work if you wanted to do a close up render.
Materials:
I created both Cycles and BI materials for the chair. There are two scenes labeled Cycles and Internal which allow you to render the chair in either one depending on which you prefer.
Compositing:
The compositing is fairly simple. There is a little bit of color correction and some added AO. There is also a Hue/Saturation/Value node that allows you to change the color of the chair after you have rendered it.
Have fun with the blend!
Haha. Yeah, I probably need to look for a new chair. I have a better chair at my college dorm but when I'm home for the summer I am stuck with this one. I do spend alot of time in it though, so a high quality chair seems like a good invesment.
I'm glad that you liked the model, thanks for your input.
Dan, I like the model as a model. Good colour, attractive design and excellent detail on the castors. Thanks for sharing.
However, it doesn't look very supportive for your back. You say you use it to work with Blender, but I hope you don't spend too much time in it. It is very important to ensure the spine is well supported and everyone's spine is different, which is why computer chairs should have several adjustable aspects. You don't want to be storing up back problems. Better a good quality second hand chair than a brand new poorer quality one. Just my 2 cents.
