Iris model created using the hair particle system to generate the iris texture. Created to be customizable on iris pattern and color and basic color filters for inner and outter iris rings.
This was a first attempt to get this figured out for sure and definitely appreciate the feedback and will update accordingly. Spent a considerable amount of time trying to get the hair particle color to have a bit more variance and pop. There is an emit node that gives an awesome glow and more pop. I discovered that translucent gave me the variance in color in the strands that i was hoping to get. I would like to figure out how get some more random effects on the iris such as some voronoi patterns mixed in and some random discolouration dots.
Nothing but respect from me, there was a good tutorial about Pixar eyes which I enjoyed; it made me realize how hard good irises are.
This image is misleading. The iris doesn't use a procedural texture.
I guess the wording could be misinterpreted. I was the best description I could think at the time.
Node setups in Materials are a little hard to follow, lots of redundant nodes.
Probably some redundant materials too. The result looks pretty good though.
Needs 2.69 (not yet released) Hair Particle System but 2.69 RC3 seems to work okay.
