This tealight candle was completely modeled from scratch, and contains some unique features. First, the wax material is a combination of subsurface scattering, anisotropic, and glossy shaders. Second, I think the flame is actually a "cheat" in that it is a mesh with a semi-transparent texture used as an emission shader and depends upon a Glare node for the glow effect.
All things consider, it's pretty, so enjoy!
It's really cool, but in my humble opinion, the wax around the flame should be more brilliant and "liquid". Thanks for sharing your work.
I agree! I've made some minor adjustments, and updated the file. Thanks for the critique!
Hi! Finally found a tealight! I dissected your .blend so i could learn to do my own, and this helped a lot. One problem i have is that the "hot wax" part in the middle isn't smoothed out like it is on this pages picture. There seems to be a "hot texture" file missing as well. How did you smooth the result?
The hot texture file is just a gradient circle that makes the hot wax fade out. That texture should've been packed with the file but was not. Thanks for making me aware of that problem ... I will upload an updated blend immediately with the missing file packed.
Thank you! .. i've used your candle in my project with some changes What If Robots Have Feelings? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmCEMPT_RYw
Nice! Thank you! I dissected your .blend so i could learn to do my own, and this helped a lot. I like a flame...
This delightful tealight is another example of creative living from elkid. These little touches make all the difference when spending quality time with others.
