Hi. This is a project created for a free software event in my hometown. The idea basically was to transmit a warm and a friendly ambient, far from the sometimes cold connotations of this kind of events. Also this was an opportunity to give Blender a different approach, using it for an AfterEffects-like 2D animation. The proposal was done following a little script and the voice-over. All the textures were created in house with Inkscape, a little bit of Gimp and some touchs in the Blender UV editing. The song is called «My dog» by The Fumes

Hi mofx. I've never used AE so i presume this kind of animation could be easily done in it. I've heard that the way it works with planes and the realtime rendering is amazing and a great advantage. I have a lot of pain during the process, i must say :)
But it must be as any learning process. The thing is: it could be done in Blender too. The problem is: Blender is aimed for 3D artists, not for Industrial Designers, nor Architectural modelers, and so on. So yeah, it's very sacrified working with this kind of aesthetic. Maybe if we start to doing some noise the developers pay attention to this portion of users and the things could change a little bit... Working with planes and such could end in a mess if you aren't organized, especially when naming materials, bones (if they exist) and so. In the beginning i've managed to have the Blend organized, but in the end the time runs out and i end with multiple Material.00x and Plane.00x.
As i say, i never worked with AE, maybe i'll take a look to see the workaround in it and take the feedback to Blendah.
Happy blending!
But your work is still good regardless of which software you used. I am a motion graphist too and I will look at how you built your project to see how I too can achieve the 2D animation look.
Interesting enough, even though I am an ignorant in animation (by now).

Blender projects are so time-consuming, and if you’re like me, balancing creative work with school essays can feel impossible. I remember one time being so wrapped up in a 3D model that I forgot I had an essay due. I ended up getting help from essay writing companies and it was such a relief. They took care of the writing while I could focus on my Blender project. It’s a huge help when you’re juggling multiple creative and academic tasks at once.
Wow, really nice, being a motion graphics artist myself, it will be very interesting how you pulled off the 2D look in Blender. Question, Doing something like this in AE would be pretty quick, how was it to do in Blender? Thanks for sharing.
