After a few days of looking for a procedural wood texture I decided to make my own, with all the editable inputs that I found necessary.
P.S. File contain only bright wood material (applied to plane and not subsurfdivided cube) - dark wood only for preview purpose.
Edited: Sorry to all who downloaded the file already. For me it was crucial to do some minor tweaking around bump setup because apparently I didn't do it properly. Now i tested it with settings near extremes and it seems to be ok.
Now file contains dark wood material too.
P.S. Also edited planks material (to match its wood node setups with this one).
You can do planks using the brick texture node and reducing the mortar to a very small size. After that use the gray color to switch between different wood materials, so the planks look different. I have done some test and I think it works.
To tell the truth I recently joined so Blend Swap is new to me. Just seen your texture and it looks good but as you mentioned it's harder to control.
And yes, I did wooden planks and I will upload it in the future (need to make logical inputs of combined wood node setup and wooden planks setup).
Appreciate the comment.
I think this is the best procedural wood that I have found for cycles. It would be interesting that the blend file includes more presets, like the dark wood.
Sorry but I needed to make some changes in bump setup. Old one works but in some cases might give strange results.
Why non-commercial? Commercial projects can benefit from your work too.
It was uploaded rather for educational purposes (if someone found it useful I'm glad ;)) and non-commercial works. Moreover I'm using it commercially- it might be harsh and I may sound like an asshole but I spent quite some time to create this material and I don't feel like sharing it with others so they can make income with no contribution for the author (apart from acknowledgement). If someone is willing to buy it I may consider selling it but I don't think someone would :D- there are other materials with CC-0 and CC-BY and image textures, but still if someone really needs it...
P.S. Sorry for grammar or any other kind of error- English is not my first language.
Hi I'm new in blender, I want to export this textures to Unreal engine 4 but I have no clue of where to start, if you could please help me I'd be grateful
Hey, that looks pretty good. Have you seen my entry into the procedural wood domain? I think mine looks pretty good for solid carved objects (like a chess piece) but I feel like it is harder to control than I would like. I still haven't figured out how to make it work for wood planks
