Crossbow done in cycles. Like it but wasn't sure what kind of environment to put it in so I didn't...lol At any rate all of the textures are from plaintextures.com with the exception of the image on the feathers which was found during a random search for feather images. If not for plaintextures my models would not have the appearance that they have. I have combined several textures to form the textures that you see in the blend and learned this technique from the Andrew Price Tutorial on creating realistic materials. It is completely parented to the body of the crossbow. It is not something that wold even really be functional in real life as I added a bunch of stuff just because I thought it would look cool (Like the gears at the mid point of the crossbow). I had the idea in my head that by pulling back on the cocking bar that these hinges would rotate pulling back the support and lifting the string catch to pull the string into place. Even though these things are present the effectiveness of that mechanism is not realistic but like I said...it looks cool...lol
Ya, I suppose. That being said the crossbow doesn't really have a steampunk appearance to it so I'm not really sure that it qualifies.
Just noticed that DrOvi said that the file was corrupt. I downloaded it myself even though it's my blend and seems fine. What constitutes a corrupt file? (I assume that if it was corrupt it wouldn't open or a window would pop up saying that the file is corrupt, will not open.) 76 Downloads so I don't think that there is anything wrong with it but let me know if this is not the case and I will re-post.
Yep works perfectly fine, this is why people need to report blends, so it doesn't become a comment back and forth. If it was reported we would of checked it and informed the reporter that the file was fine. But instead people just comment that it doesn't work and this happens. Sorry @blenderjunky the file is fine.
No worries. It's all good. I'm pretty easy going so never bothers me. Just wanted to be sure it was fine. Thanks for checking.
Wouldnt it be steampunk then once you add mechanisms that look but arnt functional?
