    Ah, so the sixteen pairs of blocks are pre-fractured. Did you use the cell fracture add-on? I watched your video and then went looking for Blender destruction videos and found one by Blender Cookie ("Using the Cell Fracture Add-on in Blender - Part 01").

    I really like the effect. If the pieces were small enough, one could make an animation of a mole-infested lawn LOL
