Here's my take on a white cedar (or thuja) tree, two of them to be precise, obviously made with sapling. Fairly high poly, I set "Display" under "Object" settings to "Bounds" so that Blender won't crash on those with older machines when opening the .blend. Trunk is not textured, in my scene it was a background object so I didn't need to texture it. The leaves texture is self made, for the leaves material props go to user negativa (http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?216866-Cycles-tests-the-new-blender-CPU-GPU-renderer-of-awesomeness&p=2138175&viewfull=1#post2138175).
Use the trees or the texture for whatever you'd like to.
Cheers!
The sapling document was informative and fun to follow. Thanks for linking.
good job, thanks for sharing. The document is very helpful, thank you.
wow thanks, i might use it in one of my projects. Rest of the scene is done, Im just feeling lazy and I might use ur trees, or use the ones which i made a while back. Anyway Im gonna learn from ur creation , so thanks again .
Awesome. I just started looking at making trees and it is a process for sure. You have done a great job, these are very believable.
