Hy Blender-friends,
here is the result of my last project (a dome like the dome of cologne without the hole figures). It has over 7000 objects and over 19 million vertices. It is rendered in cycles and need a PC with a lot of ram (i have 12GByte). The materials need a python script called GAO2 from Francois Gastaldo. You can download it from "blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?270332-OSL-Goodness&p=2255482&viewfull=1#post2255482". I had copy and past it in an ascii-text-file and called the file "c:\Programme\Blender\Blender-2.70(x64) \2.70\scripts\GAO2.osl". If you have done this, Blender should be find the script. In the other case you have to change the path in the materials or delete the script-node in the materials. The layers 1 - 13 have the dome, layer 14 has a dummy for a better adjustment of the camera. There is an sphere empty that is damp-tracked with the perspective camera for adjustment too.
Since i have realised, that the textures are missing. Sorry for that. Here are links for downloading theses textures :

I hope you have fun with this building.
With best wishes to all blenders, Mikel007
Thanks for your wishes. Yes, the rendering of that thinks with bad computers are impossible. I want render a short animation with that but ohne picture with 1024x1024 needs at least 1 hour. Perhaps a render farm is in such cases a solution.
Hallo Mikel,
eine super Arbeit!. Klasse. Da kann ich meine 32Gb RAM ja mal richtig einsetzten. See you!
Very nicely done. I have a beast of a computer and it's still too much for my system to handle, and my computer can handle a lot...lol Though it's a great piece regardless. The detail is great just way to much for my system.
Thank you. I have a computer with 8 CPUs an 12 GByte RAM (and an ATI Radeon HD 4600 graphic card with 1 GByte ram). Please check the "originals" in the last layer (20). Perhaps it runs if you switch of or delete all subdivision surfaces. As i build the dome i had the same problem. My Blender crashes if i give the roofs of both towers a subdivision surface modifier. Hope that is the reason for your problem.
Hello guys, i had forgotten the textures. Sorry for that. In the description are now links, where you can download the textures in the textures directory of the blend-File-directory.
With greetings, Mikel007
The file is now updatet with the needed textures. Sorry again for my mistake and a good time with Blender. Mikel 007
Hello again, there were some problems too. Because the textures are so heavy the autoamtical pack command has destroyed the internal links to the textures. You can see the textures in the UV Editor but not in the render. But on my computer i had no problems with that. I have stop the automatical pack command and recreated the links to the textures. I hope now there aren't any more problems. With Greetings, Mikel007.
Unter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMwoqOGtStI hat ein Freund mal eine kurze Animation mit dem Dom erstellt. Viel Spass :-)
Under https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMwoqOGtStI one of my friends has rendered an animation. Just for fun :-)
Under https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rv1ucL-qQTE you can see a longer animation from my friend.
Hello Eldirector, no the interior isn't modeled because the file size would be to great :-)
That's really impressive but you may want to enable Simplify in the Scene settings so that more computers can handle it in the viewport. Also, why didn't you add the textures to the file after you realized they were missing ? You can always change the blend file in the Manage menu. But perhaps it would surpass the size limit allowed by Blendswap ?
Hello ChameleonScales. Your right. This was my first large size project and I was new in Blender. The limits from blendswap were another problem. In this time I would realize such a project in another way. But I have not the time to change this file now.
Interesting your model. Unfortunately, modeling things like that would be impossible with my miserable computer. Congratulations!
