Description:

Hello Guys.

This is sail boat, which i called Morning Star. It has ready for use exterior with cloth simulated sails and flag.

But there is a lot of work for interior. Also i had problems with baking the cloth. Still didn't found the solution. Sometimes it saves files on disk, sometimes - not.

Masts and rays are rigged, so you can rotate them and aoo ropes will follow them. You will find control bones on bottom layers.

I used a blueprints of ship called Hackam as reference, but had to improve it a lot. (blueprints not included)

This model can be used in whatever project you want, as long as you use it for non-commercial purposes and give credits to me - Felis Leopard as initial author.

Here is some rendering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0hVv_3e8Ns

For any questions you may write me to: felisleopard@gmail.com

Cheers! :)

Nice boat, the animation looks so real. Great job. How long did it take to render the entire animation (I guess you used an ocean modifier with dynamic paint?

Nice modeling details. I have often though of modeling a sailing vessel, but the rigging seems too daunting.

The only suggestion I have is that I think the textures need some grunge and weathering. It looks a bit to new out of the box. I assume that the white patches on the hull are where the paint has worn off. You might try using a gradient node to create a transition between the wood and the white paint. The sails would probably have some weathering from use.

    Anyway, very nice.

Cesium666, about two days. and there is no dynamic paint. it was just a floating animation test.

BMF, thanx! Yeah, the rigging is too damn complicated. but once you start - you'll find out what every rope does :) Yes, texturing is my worst enemy. I think i should add some spots of dirt and light exposure effect on color. Also it's a simple texture. I didn't use separate material for waterline. Can you show some examples with gradient nodes, you talk about?

I love it, but find it difficult to see what you did with the rigging part. Do you have any tutorial about this how to do rigging with ropes and blocks?

The ropes reacts with the yards when moving it from your model, i would like to get his to on my warship, but don't know where to start.

I've done some studywork for a museum which is building a replica: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh-1EjbuRF4

When I loaded it in, all I saw was a bunch of warped triangles. Has anyone else experienced that?
