I created this lighting setup for displaying my own models in a consistent form. I hope that this is useful for anyone else that needs this.
///Update! v2.0
Improved reflections
Depth of Field Control
Updated Lighting
Note: The scene included renders like the first preview image. The rest are made my changing the color of the backdrop and the lights.
Happy Blendering!
Thanks! Yep, always nice to have something like this one hand so that you don't have to redo it every time you make something.
This is pretty much what I use except my lamps are just flat planes with the emission material but no black. Is there any reason for the black and the shape of the emitters? And is the black material only on the backs of your lamps?
Thanks.
Phil.
The black is there so that you don't get any bounce lighting from the back of the plane. Its not really needed in this setup but in certain scenes it can help. :)
Actually, that's a good idea. Haven't thought on that... I used materials with different look for front and back faces before, but I never tried to use that on emitter planes to reduce bounce lighting. Good idea! (well, I said that in the beginning, didn't I? g)
I'm noticing it seems fast. I like the way its rendering the SSS skin tone as well.
Oh, one alibi - It sort of freezes all other aspects of blender while its rendering. Cant access any windows or even shut the render down. Small point, but the look is ... Great!
That is for speeding up Render times. There is a lock icon in the render panel. It saves memory which speeds up the render. And you can still cancel the render via the ESC key.
Thank you so much! this was exactly what I was looking for!
Finally getting around to finding a really good use for this :D I'm loving it already! :D
Really excellent studio setup, just what I was looking for, thanks!
I'm very new to the world of blender so something like this is very handy. I'm just entirely sure how to open it up into blender, If you could let me know it would be greatly appreciated
Unzip the .zip file you downloaded. Go to File>Open> and navigate to where you saved the file and press "open". :)
Just say: Studio Setup by "Johnson Martin". And a link my BlendSwap page would be appreciated!
Thank you very much for sharing. I used it for a product sample - works great!
I've been using this for about a month now and it's amazing! My eternal thanks for keeping this free and in the community. I've added credits on my website pointing back to here and your work. thank you again!
Thanks for this! Could you please explain the DOF_Control layer???
Great work, always handy to have. I love it when people do the hard work for me. Thanks for sharing.
