This blend file will allow you to create close up pixel display renders using your own textures. It takes an objects position in 3D space and gets the color of a pixel in a texture based on it.
@Cimeries You could just replace one of the meshes to a square one. All "pixel" objects in the scene should be linked to use the same mesh. I am not quite sure what you want to achieve but that's the easiest way to change the shape of the "pixels". Also, I would love to see what you come up with :D
Very cool effect, checking out the file now. Any way to render it as squares instead of circles? Would help to generate textures for games like Minecraft, old DooM, Duke Nukem 3D games.
