Looks awesome! I know an easier way to do this, just make a sphere, add the textures, then do a remesh modifier and select 'cubes'. Thanks for sharing this with us buddy!

That's exactly what I did. The tough part was making the pixelated sphere accurate to the texture. The octree depth slider wasn't very accurate to what I wanted, and if I resized it in edit mode it didn't change the amount of cubes at all. So I added tiny spheres around the main sphere and resized them so that it could perfectly match my reference.
