Please help, I still have this problem as described above: "when opened "elbows" and "knees" armatures are way out of position and there seems to be no "thigh" or "upper arms" ? What have I done?". I've tried opening it in 2.45, 2.49, 2.69.

I would love to use this model for an animation but the position of the hands, elbows, knees and ankles dont get saved in the pose library. They also dont show up in the Dope Sheet. I think it is because their channel is grey in Bone->Transform.

All other bones get saved correct in the pose library and have green channels.

I work with blender version 2.73. Is there a quick fix for this or do I have to go back to version 2.49 like ZeroMeetsInfinity says in his post on 2013-12-02 07:22:03 ?

Woot! Going to use this with a Dragon I'm making for Unreal. The fire burns you to this skeleton when you die. I'll post a follow up when it's done.

Nice looking rig. I made an extremely short animation. I'm not good at it and it's not that good. It's my 3rd animation. It's the 2nd one I made in Blender, but it's the 1st for not looking at a step by step tutorial. You can check it out if you want:
