Little devil (imp, minion demon). In Eastern Europe folklore (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Czech fairy tales) little devil (chort, chortik, besÃÂ) is the inhabitant of hell and minion of Satan. Unlike the western-style little devils, these are usually described as mystic creature not very tall with cat-like body, covered with dark-charcoal fur, having goat toes, pig nose, long tails with brush at the tip and short horns. Usually sent to world to trick and tempt christian people to sin and to buy their souls. But as little devils are not very smart (and extremely honest), they are often fooled by other tricky folklore characters to do things for their good. This one was made in honor of famous Russian and Ukrainian national writer and poet Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol and his classic cycle of short stories "Evenings on the farm near Dikanka"
