Hey guys! Thanks for checking out my grass scene. This will be my first upload to Blendswap. I've watched plenty of tutorials on grass over the years but this time I decided to do an environment on my own without help. I am sure you will see some techniques I use that you can pinpoint to exactly where I learned it from.
Anyway! I tried to keep this file clean. Everything is named appropriately. Right now the ground plane you see has 7 particle systems (one for each plant). They are all hidden from view because they slow my computer down. I also cut the ground plane to fit the camera to save render time. But you can easily go into edit mode and modify the ground to be whatever size you desire.
No external textures or models were used! I modeled everything and setup all of the materials manually myself. Everything is setup in blender cycles. All of the plant models are located on the last layer. Also notice I am using volumetric lighting which slows down renders a lot.
Also if you edit the ground plane be sure to check out the vertex painting I have done for each particle system. You can edit the vertex paint to easily change the density and length of plants.
This took me a little over a week to finish. I hope you like it and I would love to hear anything you have to say about it (:
If you use it I would love to hear about it! Just PM me here.
Thanks Guys!
Could this be used for games? Just wondering before I sit here and render for a couple hours lol If not games, what about environment creation in ue4? Just curious.
Wow. This is very real! Beautiful work! One challenge: I am getting weird fireflies in the grass areas. Not in the other areas. And the fireflies look almost like streaks or "dust on the negative" Anyone else experience this in 2.79?
I love your grass, very well done. As you said, very clean and organized. I see your efforts. If I use this I will tell you! Thank you!
Hi Craig, I just tried it in Blender 3.0 ... it's working. Many thanks.
wow, looks really awesome dude! Thanks for sharing it with us :)
