This is a very simple BGE infinite terrain demo. No scripting, just a simple terrain element that spawns in front of camera as you explore.
Hi! just a quick question, did you get the notification email from the site when the blend was published? :)
Could this be used to generate large scale pieces of terrain for using in animations in blender internal, or does it only work with blender game?
Really nice! After playing around with it for a while, I actually think I'm going to rework my current project with this. I'll let you know how its goes if I make some significant progress with development. Also, your texturing method is genius! I kept wondering how it was so detailed without seeming repetitive, then just a few minutes ago I saw the differing overlay sizes. Simple and eloquent, nice! Definitely integrating this method with some of my landscape textures!
Well this is just flat fricken awesome. Total proof of concept for a script generated biome driven kind of thing too.
Man I am impressed. And it's pretty! I mean, you know, in that dead deserted rock heap sense of the word. Thanks for sharing this.
P.S. Apparently still works fine on 2.78.1 Not sure if there is ever much breakage between minor releases or not, but seems BGE suffers from a lot of breakage between major ones.
I think I'll use this (once i make it Cycles) for my JG 27 animation
I love it, it's a real improvement over the last one of these i had seen, but it's still not quite there;) definitely useful for something like a outer space game (implying the textures are changed) considering the holes in the ground as you go.
