Herakles, from the environs of Rome, early 1st centurt A.D., Marble, Nye Carlsberg Glyptotek (Copenhagen, Denmark). Herakles holds the golden apples of the Hesperides behind his back. One of the heroôs Twelve Labours for King Eurystheus was to fetch the golden apples, which granted eternal life. This is a copy of one of the works of Polykleitos from around 450B.C.
