As the (working) title states, this is an adjustable basemesh for sculpting humanoid characters. I got the idea for this project while planning for a series of renders for which I planned to sculpt a large number of characters and wanted an easy way to start from basemeshes with varying proportions. It seemed like it would be worth the time to try to set up a semi-permanent solution, so I set aside the original project and devoted my attention to the basemesh. It didn't take long for me to realize that other people could probably use something like this, too. This version is pretty simple. All you have to do is move the handles that correspond to the joints to adjust the proportions. I've included instructions in a text file within the blend. I plan to release multiple updates with both bug fixes and added functionality (improved/advanced workflow options and controls). Since I haven't heard about any bugs in the beta release, I'm upgrading the designation to v1.0- the first finished version. Please report any bugs you find in the comments, however. I'm new to Creative Commons licencing, so let me know if there's any issue with the license I've chosen. I wanted to include No Derivatives, but that wasn't an option. Also, I don't intend for any restrictions on the mesh once it's generated- only on the tool, itself. I hope this is useful. Leave comments with any feedback or suggestions you have. Look forward to hearing from you and thanks for looking/downloading!
Full Disclosure- I hope to eventually create a paid version to be made available on the Blender Market, Gumroad, or the like. Don't worry- I plan to continue to support and update the free version, even after a paid version is released. The primary difference will probably be a custom interface, but there may be additional features and I may even try to develop it as an add-on.
-Change Log-
v0.9 (beta) -initial release
v1.0 -first finished version
Hey, thanks so much for this. Is there anymore update for most recent Blender version? like 2.8x or 2.9x?
If I use this to create a character for my game or a creature does that mean I own the creature or character that I create from this or no 'cause I think that's what base meshes are for right maybe I'm wrong
As long as you give attribution, this creation can be used for commercial use. Read the CC license for more information.
I sculpted the model and changed it a lot so am i allowed to use this in my game if i also give credits to you
oooohhhh CC-BY-SA. Such a Double Edge Sword i like it your style.
In Blender, export it as an FBX and then import it into a new project. It's what I do whenever someone has a .blend file that has a bunch of weird shit in it.
If anyone's wondering about importing it, you can export it as an FBX (or your preferred file type) and then re-import it into whatever you want.
Excellent idea for flow development..thanks for sharing
