Description:

This is an Animation Nodes 2.0 setup which creates tank tracks from a given object and fits them around a given curve; I designed it to be a more flexible version of the setup presented by Olav3D in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiG4--fKVps). The number of tracks and spacing between them can be adjusted freely, and then node tree will adjust the scale of the tracks to fit (as long as the total length doesn't exceed the length of the curve).

The arrow empty can be used to move the curve and animate the tracks; however, I could only figure out how to get this to work in one direction. Moving one part of the setup in the X or Z directions messes up the curve modifier.

I solved an issue with the tracks not fitting around the length of the curve output by Animation Nodes by scaling that length by 14.113 (I'm not sure why this exact number works, but I saw no overlap or gaps at the end of the tracks even when they were scaled up massively, so it seems to be close enough).

The render was made using Cycles and Filmic Blender.

Feel free to use or expand upon this setup as long as you give credit :)
