Written June 18, 2018Try this: when your browser (Firefox in my case) asks you where-to-put-what, with backspace, remove .html
Worked for me. But I agree, something is wrong with Blendswap at the moment. -

Written June 21, 2018Same for chrome or opera. I simply rename the extension to have zip and use winrar and it works. But with some unpacker it's possible that's not working because the file contains some html before the real "zipped" file.

Written June 21, 2018The file it downloads ends in .zip but it's a html file and 7z can't extract it. I tried with Firefox and IE, I stay away from anything Google. In IE you can't even get to the download, you get a page full of errors and strange characters.

Written June 22, 2018The file it downloads does not end with html, it simply is html and ends in .zip. When the download window pops up (save as or open with) you can see the file.zip.html but you can't edit the name at that point

Written June 22, 2018Okay turns out I had to change a folder option to show known extensions, works now. Now it simply says file is not an archive and doesn't extract.

Written July 19, 2018The problem with the downloads is NOT the file extension. If you look at the files in a Hex-Editor, you can see that there is HTML-Code before the ZIP-Data. (Very obvious because the file starts with 'HTML' and later you can find the actual ZIP indicator 'PK'). What you have to do is delete the HTML-part (with a hex editor). Then you can open the file like normal. I've written a small program to do that for me. (because it was getting really annoying to do that by hand every time I downloaded something from blendswap). Let me repeat this for non tech savy people: changing the extension of a file doesn't do anything. And in this case the file is actually 'corrupt' for any unpacker, because they expect the file to start with 'PK' not with 'HTML'.
