Judy Hopps for Blender 2.8
Original version can be found here: https://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/83856
Changes:
judy_rig_ui.py updated to support new GUI
Hair and LooseHair shaders updated to use new Principled HairBSDF
This is the first model, I took care about by updating to a new Blender version (I got help with updating the judy_rig_ui.py). Info: The Principled HairBSDF shader was developed for Zootopia by Disney. The original paper can be found by searching for "A Practical and Controllable Hair and Fur Model for Production Path Tracing" e.g. with Google. You can say the original hair model has returned to the Blender-Judy now. But finding the correct constant values for it is difficult. Make experiments with it, play with the constants controlling it! If you find better parameters for the hair shaders or a better connection of the shaders, please write it here in the comments. If you find Bugs about the changes, please write them in the comments too.
The updated Nick Wilde blender model can be found here: https://www.blendswap.com/blend/23238
And please press like :)
I had similar effects with some of the 2.8 Beta Versions. So if you still use a Beta version go to the final version. Furthermore I use the 64 Bit Version of Blender (on Windows 10).
I use the "blender-2.80-windows64.zip" Version without Installer from https://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.80/. After decompressing it, you will find just a folder with the blender files in it. I start the "blender.exe" there and load "judy-hopps-20.blend". I use "render Image" in Blender to get the image. What you could test is: go to "context output" and deactivate on "Post processing" the "Compositing" and / or the "sequencer" perhaps this helps somehow. I have no further ideas at the moment.
If the problem consists it could be related to your system somehow. You can report it at https://devtalk.blender.org/c/user-feedback Perhaps somebody there can help you with more ideas
I figured out my issue, I was using the Eevee render engine because that's how the file loaded up. I used cycles and everything worked fine. Silly mistake on my part!
Nicely done. I like that you updated this model to support 2.8 better. Works fine here.
I had hoped more stuff would be fixed in the "2.0" version though. Her neck fur still seems to stick through the clothing. The collections in the file aren't named or grouped. And I would've liked to see a melanin/redness map for the fur and not using the tint. And some other minor stuff.
Any idea how to change the facial expressions??? That is super important.
Hey, I love the low res button, I did an animation with the original and it was a headache to work with.
How did you get this to work? I'd love to learn this because I primarily use Blender for game animation.
Love the model and the rig! I'm wondering if you rigged the face as well? If yes, could you give me any advice on how to unhide he rig? I'm fairly new to blender, so I'm still working out the kinks
Yes, the Face is rigged too. I added a demonstration Video with a kissing scene of Nick and Judy. It can be found by scrolling threw the example pictures at the top of this page. To animate the face, load the model in Blender 2.8. Go "Edit" -> Preferences -> Save & Load . Activate "Auto Run Phyton Scipts" (When this is activated only load trusted models). Now in the Main View where you see Judy there should be at the top right a option menu with "Display" activate "Face" there. Use "Pose Mode" to change the positions at the face (e.g. the eyes)
Hi DeltaWing123! I've been animating with this model of Judy and i really admire your work! Is easy to use and have really good rigging decisions. I want to talk with you! I wonder if we could share our skills and became better at what we do. Please write me at potentemartin@gmail.com (mail) or @martin.potente (instagram)! i'd appreciate it a lot!
How do i Append this rig correctly? I tried "judy" in collections but it didn't look right.
You need to Append everything from the model from every sub folder.
I'm sort of new to this what app do I have to download on my laptop to use this?
hey DeltaWing, i am not finding the face part, i checked your other comments but it's not showing up for me. also can't move the toes or fingers, not sure if they are rigged. great rigging other wise. o7
Thanks a bunch! but could you also include an FBX version? please?
OMG! It looks so real, I can't believe this is a drawing. The method is probably similar to the geometry dash lite game graphics created by the game developers
I found myself nodding prodentim along as I read through this post.

When I render it, the hair is completely black and the pupils don't show up. Any way I could fix that?
