This is my try of a CAD style, professional looking blueprint. After watching the, a bit long-winded, blueprint tutorial on blendercookie.com I've tried to find an easier and quicker way to convert a model into some kind of a building plan.
Short Tutorial: Basically you have just to set up two models and two materials. Material one on model one (layer 2) defines the main color (in this case white), material two on model two (layer 3) adds the wireframe. The difference between model one and two is only the subsurf value. Use a high value for model one to get a nice rounded outline and the lowest value for model two to get a clean and simple wireframe.
Short Tips: Tweak the light to adjust the bright grey shadow. If your wireframe intersects with the other modell play with Z-Offset value in the material settings. You can also play with the Edge value in the render settings two adjust the thickness of the outline. Two render out different perspectives of your model select an other camera by hitting ctrl+0 and render. Feel free to compose all your different perspectives in photoshop and tag them with measurements et cetera.
Have fun ; )
Thanks for the probs, Matthew ; ) I think sharing models is the easiest and fastest way for me to give the community something back. You doing an awesome job out there, thanx.
Er... did you know that you can just tick "wire" in the "display"-options in the object-tab? That way you can achieve (viewport)renders like this one by tobain: http://www.blendpolis.de/download/file.php?id=67568&mode=view
I don't know if you can render that, if not, your blend shows an laborious way to do that - but when it's the only way...
