Description:

I find meta-objects to be kinda interesting, I wish the developers would expand the capabilities in this area. It also seems like hardly anybody does much with meta-objects.

Somebody's probably has already done something like this, but I made a simple character out of meta-objects and rigged it, then sort of "wadded it up" and animated it "un-wadding".

With mesh animation, you work hard to make your mesh deform "just so", but with meta-objects, it's kind of interesting to see how they interact.

Possibilities for this sort of thing:

What if you had a conventional mesh character and all of a sudden...squish...gloop, he opens up and out pops this decidedly un-meshy looking thing.

Or what if you had this big blob of meta-stuff and used layers to swap out whole different globs of meta-goop and armatures. One minute it looks one way, and the next it extrudes a tentacle...no wait...it's an arm...with an eyeball that turns into...

You get the idea.
