An earth as seen from space that I made following Andrew Price's tutorial. It uses very high-res textures from NASA.
has 3 layers of clouds, atmosphere and earth. although I do not understand the material that serves "mix" and material "night" thanks
If you see, on the dark face of the earth there is another material, with different texture: it uses the texture caught during the night fase. The mix material uses material nodes to blend the materials between the lightened and the dark face.
I would like to use this for a videogame I am making. I would like to know if putting your name in the credits is good enough for you. Feel free to check out our website: kandeproductions.webs.com(you have to type this into your url bar uptop, you cant use bing, google, or any other search engine). From there you can access any of our other site(wikia, deviant, youtube, and facebook).
I suppose the texture are quite too hi-res to to be used in a videogame... however, feel free to do anything you want
Hey thanks for that share. I tweaked it a little bit to my liking and rendered 288 Frames over "one Day". So one frame for every five minutes as a desktop background (2880*1800 Resolution (Retina MBP)). Currently working on a script to change background with time.
It is quite big (500Mb) blend file + license file is included (I hope I got the thing with the license right) https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19023009/Blender/background.zip should be uploaded by tomorrow
I downloaded this but it seems to be missing the night texture. The other half of the earth just turns up grey. Could you by chance send me that texture file please? :)
Thanks. Caleb
Does anyone know if there is a reason that opening this file with 2.66 will only show the pink default with no texture? Isn't that a common problem??
Yeah, I'm missing the night texture too. I can't figure out how to get rid of the grey side.
Hi there! I'm using Blender 2.70 and can't get it to work... is there an easy fix?
Dear Porphyry, I've used your fantastic Earth model in a short trailer for my Studio. You can watch it here. Thank you, you've saved me a lot of hours of work!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNj9wQmQSlw
Tried opening it in 2.82 but didn't work. Could anyone tell me how to convert it +2.8?
Looks great!
