This is a futuristic soldier I made for the Fantasy Character Contest. You can pose, animate and render the models in the pose.blend, and you can edit them in the armor_rigging.blend.
Unpack the latter blend file before rendering. Textures didn't show me if I didn't do that.
Textures were made by me.
The hdri image is from zbyg on deviantART:
I hope you will like this :)
Well I'd say people still like it!!! It's like the 2nd most popular soldier on here!!!! :D
Unfortunately I am not familiar with the BGE at all, but if you can tell me what exactly do you think I need to modify on it or add to it, I can learn how to do it and I could make it work. :) I guess the materials need to be recreated in BGE. Is there anything else?
I would like to use this for a videogame I am making. I would like to know if putting your name in the credits is good enough for you. Feel free to check out our website: kandeproductions.webs.com(you have to type this into your url bar uptop, you cant use bing, google, or any other search engine). From there you can access any of our other site(wikia, deviant, youtube, and facebook).
Really? :O I am honored! :) Seeing my name in the credits is enough. But I couldn't reach your website :(
Go to our youtube channel: IRRATATINGBEAN. Go to the FEED section. About the third thing down should be a post with a link to our website. Try that out.
I dont know then because it works for me(we will put any vids we release up on our youtube channel, ill try to leave a comment here to tell you when we do) p.s.The soldier is planned to be put into the game form the start not in an update later. :)
nvm on making it in game engine, it is way to complex for the game engine. Thanks for putting it out there tho!
oh I see :( I will learn stuff about the game engine after I'm finished with my current project, so I can post models for it too.
Great upload! But, when I put a modifier on anything it won't work! Can someone tel me why?
Thanks. What kind of modifier did you try to apply and on which objects and in which .blend? In the armor_rigging.blend I have simplify turned on so if you want to use a subsurf modifier it won't show until you turn that off.
Never mind that last comment about me asking how to turn simplify off. Anyway, thanks you for uploading this awesome blend!
wow :O that's odd...try changing the integrator and performance options
This is so cool! I was looking for a futuristic rebel sort of guy, and this guy fits the role! Only thing is, can you take off the helmet or something to show the face?
Thank you! I am happy that you like it :) Sorry but I didn't make face for this model. :( He has no head or body, only the armor. I wish I could help, but right now I don't have time to make a decent head for him. :(
man i really want to use this for my game ( credits go to you ofcourse) but im having a really hard time with it....on the pose.blend i dont see the armor i just see some lines.........(note : im not an expert)
Is the armor_rigging.blend in the same folder as the pose.blend? Because the assets are linked from that .blend. If yes, check the File -> External data -> Report missing files, and then read what Blender says in the console. It should tell you what .blend file and where is it looking for.
Ok, well you can download a pic here : http://www.mediafire.com/?ih1nkgqwwna34si
also when i click report missing files it says path not found 0.0
Yes, it says: Warning: Path Not Found and after this it shows you in quotation marks what Blender is looking for. For example it writes me: "D:\Blender\Projects\Future soldier\armor_rigging.blend" Check what it writes for you, and copy the armor_rigging.blend into that folder.
The license permits it if you credit me, so you can use it. But someone said to me here that it is too complicated for a game. But if you can make it work I would love to see what do you come up with :)
Thanks ( credites goest to you, don't worry) What do you mean by too complicated.
Maybe he was talking about the vertexcount because it is pretty high around 39000 vertices without subsurf...I wasn't familiar with the edge crease option at the time so I put supporting edges everywhere to make the armor look sharper...
Hey, Awesome Blend, i'm going to use this in a FPS if thats ok with you. However i need the textures so that it would look good in game. Thanks.
Thank you! You can use it of course I would love to see what you come up with.
I just got a free Minecraft code from http://linkbitty.com/FreeMinecraft
I REALLY want to use this for my game!!! I will give you credit, and is you what to help out with the game just tell me!
Good luck with your game! :) I'm sorry but I can't help you with it right now.
Of course you can :D Just please make sure that you credit me if you release your project to the public :) Have fun!
so im working on a rlly interesting movie. could I use ur soldier for the titel art? ill make sure i include ur name in the credits
Of course you can! :D If you finished the movie, I would love to see it :) Feel free to send me a PM when it's done. Good luck!
could you make a custom soldier based on the section 8 (video game) humans if so much appreciated. (it is for an animated movie and i also would give high credit to you) (if so reply asap)
Thanks a bunch for this model. I am making game sprites for my own personal experimenting. Silhouettes.
Awesome Character you've created! I ended up using him as the main character in this short film. ( i ended up using a different color for his Armour though.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-sjktFMOE8
Your name is in the credits, although unfortunately, i could not find the blend name at the time and had to use the upload name. (40767) sorry about that :/ ~ Noah Wardell
Wow :D It's really great to see that you found this useful. :) We watched the short with my brother. We really liked it. :) Congrats on finishing it!
How about some more armor types? Maybe a youtube toturial? Or an enemy character?
Cool, Can I export this to Unity and use it as a third person character. I followed you, you are so awesome.
Hey. Sorry for the late reply. If you want to export these you need to retopologize the model. They were made for animations and are using Subsurf.
This the coolest thing i've seen this year and i've seen some cool stuff
Your rig is busted in newer versions, nothing is attached to the bones
I am making a game and was wondering if I would be able to use this awesome model. Would you want credit for the model or do you not care. Please let me know
Yeah you can put contmike in the credits. Just leave a comment here when you have the game done. I like to see how people use my models :)
hi man i want you to give me your email because i have a job for you because you object looks very cool
