High details locomotive
[please wirite a longer description -admin]
Lovely train. It's well detailed, but it doesn't have too many polygons. It's hard to criticize much because the mesh is generally so well laid out, but there are a few spots, notably the place on the wheels where they would contact the rails, that could be sharpened up. Also, I'm no expert, but is there supposed to be a connector for the cars at the rear? It seems a bit odd not to have one, and to use this as a part of a train set, it would need it.
Overall, though, very nice indeed. What's the history of this locomotive?
Nice model. What did you use for a reference? I would like to try and finish it.
Hi,
I am not the author of this Blend, but I'm about 99% sure I know what the reference was. Google "Heavy Mikado Blueprint". The reason I know this is I tried forever to find a train blueprint to use for a model, and there are surprisingly few decent ones out there. This and the "Santa Fe" are the best of a small selection.
That stack of old model railroader magazines is starting to come in handy now. They often will have blue prints or "paint shop" drawings. Though the problem I had with the later is it had not top view.
