There is, included in this .zip, a .xcf that is broken into 15 layers, allowing you to come up with any variety of eye color combinations you can think of. I left the layers exactly how they were when I created this texture with no intermediate merging so it should be fairly easy for you to study the method I used to create the eye.
I created this texture in GIMP Painter 2.6.11 and I license this under CC0 so your not obligated to attribute this to me and you can use it commercially.
My gift from me to you :)
Enjoy ~proxe
was going to include a .psd version but I'm not exactly sure how reliable a GIMP saved .psd is when opened in ps, does it work correctly? im using ver 2.6.11
Thanks for sharing this, Only recently i was looking for a tutorial on how to make custom eye textures for a rig im planning on uploading to b.swap soon. Thanks for not merging the layers , so I can see how you approached this. In regards to your last comment I have Photoshop CS3 and will be happy to see if it transfers way it should for you. I will leave further comment sometime soon with a yay or nay. Do you have any problems with me using said texture for my new rig (which ill put on Blendswap, and credit your contribution of course). Thanks again
I updated the .zip to include a .psd.
I have no problem with how you use it and its not necessary to give me any credit, I'll leave that up to you.
I actually created this texture in only a couple of hours, 3 if you count the hour that I stared at the mirror ;)
I suppose I did a good enough job because half way through creating the eye it felt like I was being watched....
Removed the .psd for PS, it really just made the download larger for no good reason, considering that GIMP is free. If you need to convert it, then download GIMP
I would like to use this for a videogame I am making. I would like to know if putting your name in the credits is good enough for you. Feel free to check out our website: kandeproductions.webs.com(you have to type this into your url bar uptop, you cant use bing, google, or any other search engine). From there you can access any of our other site(wikia, deviant, youtube, and facebook).
It is our pleasure to give support and credit to anyone who helps in the making of this game.
I use gimp as well, for most things, will try this out, thanks ^^
What an awesome eye! I should study this later, might learn a thing or two (or twenty-two!)
Fantastic work! It makes the eyes in my animal character feel very realistic. Thanks so much!!
Every so often on this site you come across a real gem. This is it! Thank you from me to you!
Thanks so much for including the .xcf. I plan on doing a lot of experimenting with those layers in a shader. The more image data, the more chunked like that, the more there is to play with.
It looks good, but I can't open it as Windows says it's a invalid archive.
Thank you for the time and effort. it"s so nice to see the generosity of all the people that gather around the blender program is phenomenal. lets you realize that there is still some good left in this world. thanks again
I don't understand what the black splotches are and I don't like them :( thanks though. Also I have no idea how to use gimp to give them color so this is just not something I can use, like I thought
Hello file broken: 404 Oh no, you've lost your way! you may have attempted to get to a page that doesn't exist Try using one of the links above to get where you need to go.
I lost 3 monthly downloads...
Newer comments should be on top... like on others sites...
Great! Just what I needed. Thanks!
