Something i have been working on occasionally, just kind of an excuse to use cycles, texture painting, and sculpting. I hit a snag when rigging the wings, not really sure how to handle the squash and stretch in this area. I have been tinkering with the shaders and am still not satisfied ... i want sss and alpha in cycles... mmmmm sss. i had to make due with the translucency shader...basically if you use this model becareful of lighting. The bag is a bit of a rush in the composit... sorry... still i think its a good laugh. the rig is really only good for posing.. it has ik handles that sit about middle of the forearm and an ik that controls the entire leg at the ankle. i havent really pushed the bind, but it seems workable. there is also 2 iks that should probably be spline. the neck and tail. i made a model in the past that used this and it was terrible, just moving the curve caused blender to act like an old man a roundabout. so when i have time i will see if maybe i had done that wrong or blender is better at handling it. something else to note on the rig... the tounge is bound to the lower jaw...
I did include the brush textures also...
Thomas, you can edit the blend and preview image if you want. Just click on the edit blend button under the preview, then you can upload a new image or blend file, as well as change title and description. Here's a video showing you how http://www.blendswap.com/how-to-edit-your-blends/
i was looking at norbert pretty closely while modeling... its close enough for gov work..
btw... when i tried to bind to the rig the first time i didnt have multi res applied... which appears to have been my problem so a decent rig and a lucky auto bind can give you some halfway decent results.
go for it... Like i said I dont know what to do about the wings... blend shapes, or maybe a lattice
its made in 2.63 and renders in cycles... thats a bit of a fight to jump back and forth, you may have to apply the multires in 2.63 and then import the mesh into 2.49 that way it drops all the modifiers and materials and then rebuild them. you might be able to get away with a displacement map... but i dont think my uvs are good enough for a great translation.
I really like it! its easy to animate and looks pretty cool. I love the Rig because its easy to wirk with it. Amazing work man
Thanks it was actually a lot of fun to make...
I made it in hope of animating and compositing so it should be fairly easy to make some blend shapes ...
hmmm i should have used a levels on it before i posted the image... here it is with just a levels adjustmenthttp://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-YzWOu2SvQSo/T9DbuWs58OI/AAAAAAAABEg/f3dD0lU3oPg/s828/dragon.jpg
