Description:

Modeled this wirenet mic after failure using other methods I thought I could use. There is no method given on net on how to make this. And I had to struggle a lot.

Proportion might not be correct because the focus was on making the wirenet. Next time I make it again, it would be much better as now I know how to make it.

Nice. The Way i found to do the Net is by Cast Modifier and a Arrayed Spline. See here if you want to: http://www.pasteall.org/blend/17507 (you probably should apply the modifiers and then delete or boolean cut out what you dont need)

Cast modifier distorts the shape at the top if you are using sphere as the cast.

Also observe that my mesh is going between each other. In your case, one wire is always on top of other.

I did use cast modifier in the beginning but it turned out to be problematic
