This little critter is meant for distant shots where you need shilouettes of crows flying around.
I've used a simple flat black material on this model, as well as a simple rig.
Going into POSE MODE on the armature, the RED bones are the main control bones for the wings and tail.
The left wing (as the crow flies, so to say.. ;) is set to mirror the motion of the right wing using a COPY LOCATION bone constraint. In a similar fashion, the spread and angle of the tail bones is setup so
that you only need to position the red right bone to pose the entire tail.
This is setup to mimic the natural flight characteristics of crows, to a certain extent.
This is great! For reasons I won't get into, I have a thing for crows (and blackbirds in general). I've been looking for 3D models of crows for some time on other websites, but never found any. And no tutorials on YouTube on for modeling crows in Blender, but to no avail. Oh well, I'm still learning box modeling anyway. Good to see someone spent some time to make a crow in Blender.
bigboy4006: yeah I looked around for a while for a good crow model, and in the end it was faster to just make one from scratch after finding the right images to use as a rough guide...
Thanx for the model. It was used in this animation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7r4QrJg9tg
OMG this is great. Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for uploading! :)
Nice! The only thing that's sad to me is that I went through all the trouble of making my own last week when I couldn't find any after months of searching. I'm not a modeler by any means, so it was pretty basic lol. Then today I tried searching for "birds" instead of "bird" (which is what I had always searched for) and I found yours! Nice work!
exellent, wery useful an nicely done, thank you :) here is link of my film(with strange birdlike modell), not done with Blender, althougt it could be done today ;) http://vimeo.com/14824586
