A High-Poly (396K) Destroyer Model.
This was a joint project between myself and Blend Swap user YAZJACK . I did the mesh and he did the textures. My job was easier, I think. He had to unwrap, bake, and paint a 400K mesh :)
NOTE: Due to size considerations, this file contains ONLY the mesh and unwrapped UVs. Texture pack is available Here

Wow, it is great to see incredible texturing work that is able to match such fantastic modeling! Now I must come up with a short film idea so that I may use this masterpiece somehow!
Super impressive as usual sir :D and really great texturing from Jack! Any idea what your next project will be?
Thanks... Doing a couple of smaller projects at the moment, but no ideas for the next big one. Suggestions?
A city perhaps? That's always been one of the things I've been impressed with the most - cg cities that aren't obviously generated by some script :) I'm pretty free these days, so if you'd like me to help out on the texturing+comp stuff, I'd be happy to.
This is really an amazing piece of work men. The amount of work that went into the detailing has to be staggering. You should really consider doing a tutorial series on this ship. I for one (of many I suspect) would be willing to pay for a series like this. From concept to texturing would be epic I think.
Thanks a lot...
There are a few tutorials on the modeling side, actually. As it happens, I just posted a free one on YouTube here:

It's not as detailed as the this model, but most of the techniques are the same. I have also written an e-book on sci-fi modeling here:

Finally, there is a fantastic tutorial series by Jonathan Williamson on Blender Cookie here:

On the texturing side, you'll have to defer to my partner YAZJACK (see link in description). I have no idea how that man does his stuff :)

Hey thanks alot man. I do in fact have the Vehicle Modeling Series and posted the untextured result with materials only in the Gallery. About the E-Book thing, is that available in PDF, and if not do you know if it can be converted to PDF. I have Acrobat Pro. If I can convert it I'll go ahead and buy it.
This is really first rate work, Chris! Would you be interested in further collaborations on some scifi models?
This model is awesome! Is the texture pack somewhere new now that blendswap changed the database?
Ha! Derp! I answered my own question: http://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/64610 There's the texture pack.
Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful model. I bought your e-book and it is very useful, well written, a little over my head (but I'll get past that and it won't be), and the e-book was a great deal!! I had fun rendering Perun with Octane. I had to export the 4 pieces to get the UV mapping and such into Octane. My Blender skills are poor to none, but I intend to change that. You guys INSPIRE!! Thank you for that. My render is at DA.. http://pfrancke.deviantart.com/art/Perun-Destroyer-356627903 if you want a look-see, I don't think I did your model justice. I am slowly learning with miles to go. Thank you again.
Thanks so much! I'm using this in a short I shot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dinTtgLPak
That's pretty sweet. Has an Aliens/Starship Troopers/Halo kind of feel about it.
Absolutely amazing, I'm creating a first person shooter video game with Unreal Engine 4 and I would like to use your model in it. Do you know how I can properly apply these textures to the model in UE4 and how I can credit you?
Hi Chris, Absolutely love this model great work. We used it in a short that we made here is the link below. I had to modify the design slightly just for the story but thank you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO5jBU4MI4U&feature=youtu.be
Very nice!
