Here is my last work,
I try to create a cartoon girl which have some kind of "pixar look" using some three layer sss material for the skin and particle hair.
A concept illustration and a model sheet can be found on my deviant art page (http://shadosk.deviantart.com/) or in the WIP thread in Blender artist (http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?264598-A-cartoon-girl).
The model is rigged using a modified version of rigify rig with a deformation cage. I followed the advanced face rig tutorial from Blender Cookie by David Ward to get some basic facial animation.
Dude, Wonderful work! You've achieved an extremely high quality asset and the rig is very well done. I think @mofx needs to feature this amazing blend.

Although I'm not very fond of cartoon characters, I recongnize it's is a great achivement and deserves an award. Excelent, Shados.

the download button doesn't work for me .. I use XP with IE8 .. it seems the new site doesn't support old browsers (while the old site was fine) .. I guess I will be forced to use Chrome from now on ..
this is a great asset .. from what I can see on the forum, modeling is very clean with excellent topology, texturing is good with very believable materials, and rigging seems quite easy (to use), complete (body and face) and effective (I mean good deformations) ..
This is a truly amazing piece. I do believe it is better then Pixar. Thank you for sharing it with us. Blender has a great group of artists. Ones that are willing to share their talent and I appreciate it.

Blender completely crashes on me every time I try to render this. Latest version. Other blends render fine.
You can try to decrease some render settings as raytace samples and resolution, also baking again the hair dynamic can help.
This is a really great design, and it's good to see you've used a rigify rig for the body.
However, to make it more useful for animators, it needs a low res version of the mesh which should allow 24fps in the viewport on an average system. Without this, you aren't likely to see anyone produce animations with it.
Apart from that, very nice work!
Thanks, I thought, in a first time, that hiding all multiresolution and subdivision modifier could have been sufficient.
Unfortunately not. Also, the hair slows things down a lot. This is a common issue. The character is great, but at the moment it's not really suitable for animation.
What I do in these kind of situations is to copy the mesh/meshes and apply a decimator modifier to them, since they keep the weights, it's pretty decent low res version of the original model, though you may have to check some results in the high res version frequently
suits for a teenage character in a movie! Excellent job done and it is pixar looking for sure!!

This is really incredible ! i'm still a newbie at blender, i'am beginning to work on a char with a french method book called "blender 2.6 créez des animations 3d" and i hope one day i'll be able to do great work like this. I did download your girl, i want to figure out how you did this.

Thanks you for sharing. I like it, but animating is not so good because the fps is far to slow. I hope to see a update that will make it more animator friendly.

Shados, the character is great, but the rig has a bug that did not let me finish the animation I was doing with her. The error is in te eyelids. When I move the driver head up, eyelids stop functioning because the interpenetrating into eyes. If you fix it would be very useful. thanks
@shados Where can i report bugs? i have been working with this rig and i would like give you feedback. The first thing is in the eyelids , as I said in the previous comment.
Hi, thank you for your feedback, I totally miss this bug. This problem is related to the binding option of the mesh deform modifier with the deform cage of the head. Before binding I should have selected the dynamic option. I uploaded a new patched version.
I cannot find the FK controls for the arms and hands. Where are they? IK works fine, but it is difficult to get smooth arcs with IK hands. I also had to uncheck Hair dynamics as her hair was going wild when I moved her torso (thus moving her head). But the hair isn't an issue for now. I really want to use FK to animate the arms and hands.
very nice work... I made run cycle with this character, but I don't know how to make the hair works well.. give a litlle trick to make an animation for the dinamic hair, please...
I am a student of Character Animation in Argentina , and sometimes it's difficult to get characters to animate in Blender, and I need to know if you can use your character in my animations that are only of use in classes , noncommercial , if feasible I would like to know. Excellent your work.

but I found something strange, when I move root or torso bone little further, face vertexes right before ears appear to miss calculated by you
