I'd been reluctant to do animations. As a distraction, and before dealing with complex ones, I made this basic motor just to see parts moving inside it. Crankshaft, piston, valves, gears, playing in a harmonious dance. If it is useful for you, enjoy it.

It is a good idea. In the mean time, you can look into the blend and see how the pieces are connected. Most of them have basic constraints, specifically related to rotation and location. Not armatures/bones at all. Thanks for download and study it.
Simply put...Awesome! I wish I would have seen this before I modeled mine. I love the open view. Keep up the good work sir, we appreciate it. : )
Thanks, Smitty703. I appreciate indeed your remarkable works as well.
You have provided a great piece to one of my puzzles. Through some reverse engineering of this great little blend, I have figured out how to apply the constraints I needed to make my timing gears and chain work on my constraint based V8 blend. Thank you greatly sir :-)
You are welcome. I think the objetive of a blender model uploaded to Blendswap should be to teach someone else something of interest. If this is your case, I am satisfied with my achievement. Hope to see your work when finished. Regards.
hi, I wanna use your model for my application. what do you consider proper credit? is "done by oldtimer" fine?
best wishes and thank you very much for this.
Very nice looking. Though the rotation is not quite right. In an actual engine you have cylinders 1 2 3 4, cylinders 1 and 4 go up while 2 and 3 go down. See this video for ref: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmkatAQI5-A
Nice work none the less. Looking good.
A beautiful piece. The way it is shown exposed is educational and I would love to see more of these. You're very talented.
