Rigged Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf.E Tiger, hope you like it
The track movement+tank "wobbling" is generated from a simple start/stop point. The tracks/wheels are controlled with drivers, and the caterpillar "weight" is a simple cloth simulation. You can also control the kugelblende, rotate the turret/8,8 mm Cannon(+a optional auto aim point for easy aim control) Rotating the tank is still quite buggy, but i'm finished with this project for now so I'm not going to fix it:)
Got a "black" render problem?
Try to update the material nodes; select the material that renders black, then try to delete one of the node connections and then reconnect it. Do it with all the materials that renders black, that should fix the black material problem:)

I created a full scene with the Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf.E Tiger before I decided the to post the main model on blendswap, here is the link to deviantart:

no prob. you got talent. best model on blender i ever made was of the bat mobile. i work with Houdini fx and 3ds max now. Do u make videos
Thanks:p I haven't really been focused on making videos lately, so my main fokus have been on 3D wallpapers/photos. Her is my youtube/deviantart channel if your interested:) http://www.youtube.com/user/MrHeinzelnisse http://mrheinzelnisse.deviantart.com/
Yes, the mighty Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf.E (Tiger). A 56,9 tonnes monster on wheels:)
thanck you very much for this rig , I try to do it lot of time but without succes , I use shirnkwarp ,empty tto detect ground but the tank body still fixe , thx
Very, very nice! One thing to note on the license. In the INFO text you say "FOR PERSONAL PURPOSES ONLY", however the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license allows commercial use with attribution.
If you don't want commercial use then you'll need to modify the license. The CC BY-NC is the no commercial version.
The only licenses aloud on BlendSwap are commercial use licenses. You would have to use another website to have a non-commercial license.
Thanks:) I don't think I'm going to change the licence after all, since it isn't built in the blendswap "system". But thanks anyway:)
This is awesome! I was working on the same tank but different version. I had done it so complex that the texturing was impossible! This model is perfect, you've got talent!
I was immediately inclined to make this when I noticed that it had a nice wobble sim: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/161404314/tiger-twist.gif
Also I was wondering how to change what ground it collides with. It only seems to want to collide with the ground that comes with the file, and I'm sort of a blender noob so I'm not sure where to look.
dat gif:) hahaha:p If you go to layer_8: then you will will find all the empties thats controlling the ground colliding for each wheel. If you lock closer you will see that the empties have a "Shrinkwrap Constraint", the "Shrinkwrap Constraint" is targeted to the "Ground" object. This allows the tank wheels to interact with the ground. You could always change the target object, or add a new "Shrinkwrap Constraint" to allow it to collide with additional objects:)
Great Amazing work ! Is That Possible to use your work for another Tank Model ? I'm like a noob on Blender, but I have the base of a tank ( French FCM 50t ) I'm working on when I have time, which can take the wheels and the tracks.
Thanks:3 Just use the model, but remember to leave credits if you copy something directly from the it:)
No problems ;) Have you done this alone, or with a tuto ? Can you teach me about the rig ? :)
Just one question : Is this Tank can be played in Blender Game mode ?
Ive done it alone, with no tutorial:) Its actually not that complicated The empties is interacting to the ground with a simple modifier. Each empty controls a point of the beizer curve, witch the track is attached to. The cloth simulation is also controlling the curve, by adding empties witch is hooked to each vertex on the cloth simulation. I used lots of hook modifiers to attach each curve-point to the empties. The "wobbling" is generated with a simple cloth simulation. The box is wobbling when the tank accelerates(I made simulation it quite stiff). I also made three empties to make the chassis follow the ground. I used drivers to make all the wheels and the tracks to rotate at the same speed when the tank is moved. Hope this helps:)
Great model, and with working tread AND suspension! Couldn't ask for better! Thanks for sharing.
very, very, very nice model... great job! if you are a german too: ein hammer model. haste wirklich super gemacht. selten so ein schönes blendfile gesehen. daumen hoch! großartig! fantastisch! weiter so!
Tanks:) I'm actually from Norway but I've studied the German language in school, so I did understand quite much of what you said:) Nochmal vielen dank:3
Thanks (or prehaps tanks :) for this great model I made a test vfx video using it you can watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2u6BfbdPSY
Amazing work man. I think your blend is the best on this site.
Excellent! Just one question. Even after freeing bake on layer 3, the body of the tank still goes in one direction and doesn't react to the ground even while the tracks do. I think it is keyframing location but I am not sure.
Go-oo-d job! I'm glad for you talent ! For future: create two version -- Blender internal(GLSL) and Cycles.(And Hi and Low poly(fot quik testing). PS.And interior:))))) PSS. And CC-0
That's amazing!! Where did you get your references? I'm kinda new to 3D modeling and I'm trying to model a tank too for school, but I can't find blueprints with measurements and detailed parts.
Amazing, amazing model!!! Thanks :)
But I have on problem, when trying to animate, the tanks body is always fixed in position. How can I fix this? Thx :)
This is awesome im working on my own 3D Tank animation but I have no Idea how you did this. Is there any way youll make a tutorial I feel like it would really help me.
great work! but when i free bakes the tank body is offset from the tracks can anyone help me out?
This is so good I would pay for a tutorial on this scene, modeling, textures and animation, FANTASTIC!!!!!
I am a newb at Blender. I was wondering if you could show me a way to grab the whole tank and move it because when I try to move it I have to move each piece and im getting frustrated!
My tank's color is violet, the whole tank. You can't see any textures, just violet. Does somebody know , what I have to do? -> I had to unpack the textures in the folder, great model!
Wow how very generous of you to share this excellent looking model! Curious how you made that rig an all
Hi, How did you made the motion at the end of the animation and how does the 3 empties makes the chassis follow the ground, by simply parenting it, doesent work.
Thanks for your file! I tried to implement the animation through the Rigid body, but for some reason it does not work out, it seems that it does not work (
Not sure if you'll see this, but try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5fjslhomsI&list=WL&index=4&t=915s for a rig, and remove all for the tank, and follow this.
Great model! Easy to switch to Rigid Bodies to animate yourself. Thank you.
beautifully textured! u did everything right. specularity and occlusion on the tank is perfect
