Description:

This is a very simple scene used as a means to learn a little about Freestyle.

All assets were created by me from references available on the 'net with some artistic interpretation. There are no textures used in the scene and therefore nothing is UV mapped and materials are set for Internal Render. Very little compositing.

This scene contains 84,000 polys, most of which are do to a high level sub-surf on the IO Tower. The Recognizers still have a Mirror Modifier un-applied but Flynn's is A-symetrical. The floor grid has an Array Modifier.

This scene also contains a Stereo Camera rig with an Empty as its focal point. This kind of scene doesn't work well for Stereoscopic imagery do to the thin lines and high contrast, but I decided to leave the rig intact.

This is my first time sharing a file on Blendswap, hope you find it usefull...

The IO Tower in the background has a level 4 Sub-Surf modifier on it giving it 81,664 polygons. This was necessary in order to get a smooth look on its curved surface.

I give up. Where are the red and blue edges coming from?

...or rather, when I add a new object to the scene and duplicate the materials, I get no outline.

If you look under the scene tab you will see that each line-set is associated with a specific render layer. Also the way the line-set parameters are configured only edges marked as a "Freestyle Edge" will be rendered in that color.
