Piero is a stylized bird character who is the result of an extensive full-production training course. He's been built entirely in Blender, rigged for general-purpose animation including a flexible Spline-IK wing system, with shaders applied and ready to be rendered with Cycles.
Citizen members can watch the entire process that brought Piero to life from modeling, to texturing, to rigging, to animation, to post production here: http://cgcookie.com/blender/cgc-courses/piero/
Awesome character and amazing rig! Great training as well! Good job on EVERYTHING!
I am a Citizen member of CG Cookie and I can attest that the membership subscription is a bargain for the superior quality of tutorials and the supporting files that the site provides to members.
There are 47 tutorial videos for Piero plus the reference and blend files.
lol, I am a HUGE Rio fan. That's the only reason I want this model. lol
great rig tried to make a bird type rig a while ago, but for a dragon with limited sucsess. so this will be a treat to see what i could have done better. long live the blender nation happy blending.

there is a blendercookie tutorial for this entire project. Modeling and Animating. The "read me file" actually references it
yea, but it cost money for the vid, can you send me an email at stonebrinkbenjamin@gmail.com? I really want to learn, I know a lot, but I struggle with fur and particles and stuff... thank you
Thank you.
Is there any other thing to do with drivers message (beside activate them) when loading with Blender 2.68a version?
it means blender can not find the textures. So go to UV/Image editor and use "replace" to find the correct images in the new location.
So go to the "txt" folder and select the image for each texture
ALSO : to move eyes and other features you must enable "auto run python scripts"
So go to user settings/ files/ and check mark "auto run python scripts"
He is rendering really flat and pink. Anyone know how to fix the problem?

Why is the UI so small in this file ? I tried changing many size settings in the user prefs, but I can't get it to the default layout, even by copying the values from a default blender file. What parameter do I have to change ?
Thank you SO much for letting us have this amazing model for free! I can't wait to play with it!
Fantastic asset fromt he best tutorial site going!!
