Blend Swap 3.0.3. New Features!

Version 3.0.3 arrived on Tuesday 31st of May, 2011; packed with some new cool stuff!

In your profile page:

• Notifications preferences: choose which notifications you want to receive.
• New fields for linking to your Blender Artists and Deviant Art profiles.
• Switchable color schemes! You can choose between Daylight and Moonlight themes to make your browsing experience more personal and enjoyable ;) (we might as well add more color schemes later).

Around the site:

• New download links. We changed the way your files are served to keep a better track of download counts.
• "Naked" .blend files are compressed before being served. We use the Open Source format Gzip (.gz), any decent archive extractor, like Stuffit, 7Zip and WinRar, can deal with them (blends originally uploaded in .zip and .rar files are not being re-packed). This should also solve the Safari issue preventing users from downloading .blend files (my tests were successful, and on Macintosh, Safari automatically unpacks the .blends out of the .gz container). Please report if you get an error with a big file.[UPDATE: not anymore, this kind of made more trouble then it solved, so yea, sorry Safari users.]
• Trusted Uploaders! Those among you who have proven to be enthusiast quality swappers will be progressively upgraded to our current highest rank. Trusted Uploaders don't have to wait in line for admin approval when they first upload a blend, they get published right away. Keep in mind this privilege must be earned ;)

We very recently realized we have no stats for downloads, and so we wanted to make sure we can count most of them by making every access to the files more easily trackable, even downloads from the feeds are counted, which should add quite a number :).

Accounts deletions:

Just a couple minutes back all dead accounts (registered more than three months ago, no shared blends and not a single comment) were deleted from the site. This will keep happen periodically, every month or two.
