Custom Rigify armature for quadrupeds, could be used on a horse or other similar animals. Presented with NLA strip to show all actions in one take, but contains the following actions: idel01, idleo2, walk, run (couple of speeds), jaunt or prance. Credit Chip for the Red Deer on and NicholasAnderson for low poly texture. It was rigged for use in Unity 5. FBX export from Blender 2.72 to Unity 5 is seamless. Make sure to put a check on "deform bones only" when exporting FBX so you don't get all the useless helper bones. The Rigify Metarig can be reused and resized to accommodate differ size meshes. Enjoy

Thanks a lot for this model. I'm sure i will use it on this project
EDIT: Sorry, please ignore my noob question - if anyone has the same problem as I did, I simply forget to uncheck "only render" in the "Display" menu. : )
I opened the blend file, looks awesome. I've been having many frustrations making my own quadruped rig from scratch for a fighting bull, and would like to try adapting this to my character.
BUT, I'm having the problem that I can't actually see the rig. The visibility eye on the outliner is checked on , and I've tried toggling all of the bone layer visibilities on, but I still see no armature in the viewport... what gives?
Hi Nahotnoj,
Enable the Rigify Addon if it isn't already. Open the file, top right of Blender click "Reload Trusted" to enable the Rigify python script. Now click on the rig, put it in pose mode, then you should see the Rig Main Properties in the properties panel i.e. the menu brought up after press "N". There you can hide/show the rig helper bones etc...Cheers
Excellent model/rig/animation. Super high quality. Thank you for sharing!
I only want to use the jump and running. any idea how to do that? please help. i want to make a christmas animation as a greeting card.
The animations are all single/individual actions so Unity has access to each animation. To use them in Blender, you need to Turn on "Show Overlays" to see the mesh and rig. Select "Rig", then open another window(if you don't already see it) in blender, and change the view to "Dope Sheet", and change the Mode to "Action Editor", here you have access to all the animations I created. Open another window in Blender and change(if you don't already see it) to NLA(nonlinear animation). Delete the NLA strip I created, that combines idle, idle2, walk, run etc... and create you own NLA strip. If none of that makes sense read up up and Actions and NLA strips. Happy Holidays.
I noticed the front legs are popping/twisting while looking into iron spider's request. The legs all have a "knee target" helper bone that is hidden. While the rig is selected enter pose mode and press alt-h to unhide them. You'll notice the issue in the blend between walk and run2xSpeed etc... in the NLA strip. To fix it, just move the knee targets so the are in front of the knees about a foot or 30cm's, then add a keyframe. Repeat this at each subsequent keyframe until they stop popping. Cheers
Do you know if there is a way to make the textures work in 2.8x or later versions?
Hi Lek, kinda, sorta, maybe... There is only a single simple color/albedo'ish texture to work with, the RedDeerPaint.png. Select the model, in the Material properties, click use nodes. Open another window in blender and set the view to shader editor. Plugin the color texture the base color. turn down the specular to 0, turn the roughness up to 1. Kind of plain, no real roughness or normal map info. I added a screenshot to the picture section above. Do the same for the antlers. Cheers.
Hi All, just uploaded a new version with completely overhauled textures (just for you Lek! lol). Fixed some of the animations that had leg twitching and removed the NLA Strips to avoid confusion when trying to use or edit the existing animations. Should be released soon. Cheers.
A very impressive work!. Thanks for sharing. google doodle baseball
Great model and rig!! Thanks a lot for sharing
